One more cold night calls for claret, as does baseball season day two. Eight years of age shows peeking through the dark brick red rim; blackberries, cassis, sweet cedar box, fine graininess in texture & some serious tannins Uber coating my palate- gave it a brief decant but truly can benefit. Air brings out its sweeter dimensions & raspberry compote. 100% Merlot & at 14$& change, a no brainer. Love Bordeaux bargains.

Vintage 2014 | excellent value right bank Blaye wine. The owners of these chateaux only get a fraction of the price owners on the other side of the river get. Very well made, but for 14 the wine is overoaked in my opinion. Laurel, red summerfruit. Paired with a stew. // second day with lots of aeration much better!

Excellent value right bank that’s in a perfect spot for drinking. Heady, sanguine nose. Round, caressing mouthfeel with the edges smoothed out. The palate is all about sweet leather, tobacco, dark fruit and a minty finish. Slightly drying finish but at this price , it’s nit picking. Reminder that many humbly priced Bdx can age nicely in the medium term.

Vintage 2011 / brown rim, cardinal red colour, very classic smell with vannila, stable, laurel, cassis, true to type #bordeaux Lovely taste (after a few hours in decanter) this wine rises above its modest AOC #blayecôtesdebordeaux tasted blind it can easily be mistaken for higher placed wines. Bravo! / paired with a steak and shitake

Drank 9/26/18

Nose of raspberry, oak, and some white pepper. Flavors of blackberry, raspberry, with peppery, spicy notes. Medium tannins are quite well integrated at this point. Red and black fruits, with a touch of tar and astringency on the medium finish. Fruit is quite surprising for a lesser chateau in a less than impressive vintage. Very nicely done

Vintage 2015 / Good wine for the cellar with potential. Raspberry impression, mocca. Roundness from 100% merlot. Blaye Bordeaux has interesting wines that can develop for 10/15+ years in excellent vintages.

Dry and oaky. Strawberry on the nose. Dark cherry on the tongue. Definitely a food wine, which paired well with steak.

Tart black cherry and blackberries dominate. Ruby red with dry tannins on the finish.
