This is the 2009 Chateau de Chantegrive. Graves, Podensac. A blend of 50% Merlot and 50% Cabernet Sauvignon.
On the nose is black cherry, blackberry, blueberry, black plum, black currant, licorice, oak, smoke, iron, granite and dark rich earth.
On the palate there is black cherry, blackberry, blueberry, blaxk currant, green bell pepper, minerality and earth.

Classic case of "I read great things about this wine" that just didn't pan out. I loved all the character but, for me, it was just watery. Maybe this one bottle?

The nose is refined and soft and the palate is, as well. All the elements are there. It's showing quite nice but in a few years, thus will be outstanding.

This wine has layers of complexity with a balance of ripe black fruits (currants, blackberries) and oak (cedar) with smoke and pencil lead. Crisp acidity and plush tannins with this wine enjoyable now.

Tobacco, pencil shavings, warm red currant and cherry fruit, wet stones. Immediate, and good length. Great expression of place. Charming, if a bit volatile.
