Tavel Grenache Blend Rosé

A big, full rose. Not a deck sipper. Lowish acids. Was great with dinner.

Vintage 2021 | Last week tasted after a intensive tasting in a full room. Now after a days hard work in the garden with Chinese style pork, cucumber and Chinese mushrooms in the garden: +0,3 😊 Vibrant and playful spicyness. Love it.

Body, substance, and character. Watermelon and berries splash the palate with ample acidity and a lithe, stony finish. Versatile and refreshing. An amazing buy for $15 in Lebanon, New Hampshire.

In its prime

Medium pink-orange; medium plus intensity aromas of strawberry, lemon, white peach, orange blossom, candied red cherry; dry, medium acid, low tannins, medium alcohol, medium plus body, medium plus intensity flavors consistent with aromas plus riper flavors of melon, tangerine peach; medium finish, acid a bit low, good concentration, good

All I do is study and occasionally forage the grocery store for sustenance’s day sometimes wine. I’m eh on this. It has a nice sharpness. On the nose some pleasant stones. Sorta like you are hanging at a creek near your camping ground and the rushing river smells so fresh and entices you but as you take off your shoes and wade in the rocks cut your feet a tad. Pleasurable and not. I’d prefer wading into the surf of nice sand. All the same: peaches roses and wet rocks are tasty. Even if they are not in balance they are all enjoyable. Not a fave but not a total miss

Strong vintage: deeply structured rose; red fruit, herb, mineral

This is a rosé that truly improves with a short decant and once it warms up slightly.  Once giving it a chance to open up the nose is quite complex with watermelon, crushed slate & hint of a forthcoming salinity. Med-full bodied palate in true Tavel fashion with tart cherry & raspberry upfront with a lively acidity and saline & chalky minerality in the finish. An unorthodox but excellent pairing with homemade chili!  [8/24/21]
