Charles Heidsieck
Brut Réserve Champagne Blend
Haven’t sipped this in quite awhile. 375ml to refresh my palate memory.
40% Pinot Noir, 40% Chardonnay and 20% Meunier. Varietals fermented separately in stainless steel vats. 5 to 10% of wine is vinified in old Burgundy oak barrels.
Texture is round and elegant. The fruits are; both peach, mango, apricots, slightly oxidative white citrus-lime hovers the edges & pineapple juice. Nougat, marzipan, toasted nuts, brioche, saline, crushed chalk, white spice that presses into the palate, notes of cheese cloth, limestone marl, moist, pulpy, grey volcanic minerals, yellow lilies with spring white flowers, jasmine blooms, round, soft acidy and a well; balanced, structured & tensioned finish that lands squarely on mid minerality and lasts 90 seconds.

Charles "Champagne Charlie" Heidsieck was one of the first to recognize the importance of the U.S. as a Champagne market. A blend with 40% reserve wines, fruit and floral bouquet, with orange blossom & yeasty notes. Fine bubbles, nice mousse, showing quality. Outstanding rich flavors of apple, pear and biscuit, well balanced, good structure, creamy. Long finish ending with toasty nutty oak & mineral notes.

Dec 10th, 2022My style of Champagne...65% reductive-35% oxidative. Really love how they stylized this cuvée.
Previous notes will stand.
Last of our garden cherries tomatoes. 😞

Gorgeous sweet edges. Lovely fruit but balancing acidity. Very good stuff with a long life ahead. From mag.

Aug 8th, 2020Tonight we tested the Riedel Vintage Sommelier flutes with the friends that gifted us our first set vs the flutes we had been using.
I wanted to do it with this champagne as I know it well. Moving back and forth between flutes, the nose was more green apple with the Somm flutes which, show more pineapple at the start.
From the Somm flutes there was green apple, lime zest, lemon, nougat, almonds, yeasty, more refined grainy minerals, volcanics, saline, yellow flowers with jasmine. The acidity is near perfect. The finish is; rich, well polished, nicely knitted and persists for minutes.

Opened a mag tonight and it’s just (to me) the nonpareil for NV Champers at an affordable price point.

May 23rd, 2020Hopefully, our 49er celebration Champange. Go 9ers.
The Charles Heidsieck is a beautiful Champagne with great mouthfeel. Hard to beat at just under $50.
Hope you have some nice bottles planned for your Super Bowl party. Cheers! 🍾🥂

NV. Disgorged 2018. Lots of data on the back, love it! Very clean and fruit-forward. Crisp apple, tart cherry, golden raspberry, wet rocks. Very little autolytic notes, which is more to my liking. Happy New Year!
