New Years bottle. No notes; exuberant red fruits, in balance. Still, I preferred a Bourgogne red at the table, as this not suited to my palate, feels somehow monolithic & uni dimensional

It's time for my #FridayCabernetfix.

This is a very controversial wine in the wine world. Some love it, yet some really hate it. I can understand both sides.

Dark ruby in color with a short reddish rim. Not showing age at all.

Full bodied and smooth with medium acidity.

Showing black fruits with cedar, vanilla, leather, spices, tobacco, light vinaigrette, earth, chocolates, peppercorn, coffee and mocha.

Nice finish with fine grained tannins and cherries.

This is a great Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa Valley.

Tasty and delicious with a strong nose. Will continue to age nicely in the next 5 to 10 years.

I had this vintage 7 years ago, and liked it just as much. This time
I had it blind, so it is what it is.

Wine Spectator 91 points. Robert Parker 96 points.

This 10 year old is easy drinking and good for parties.

Very enjoyable by itself or with food. A good sipping wine.

14.6% alcohol by volume.

93 points.

$150.

Deep Ruby with complex aromas of black fruit, herbs, mushrooms and vanilla spice. On the palate flavors of ripe dark fruit, blackberry and black cherry, with oak, leather and cacao. Well balanced, fine tannins, slightly savory, long finish ending with vanilla, tobacco and oak notes, aged well, drink now! Outstanding!

We really wanted to love this, but alas, we think that around 2012 was when Caymus decided to focus on an à la carte presentation, which makes for quite a shallow encounter.
They have tapped into the logic of the Skinner box operant conditioning. We humanoids press a lever (in this case pull a cork), and a one-night-stand promptly arrives in our glass. Us peeps tend to follow the crowd (I present myself as exhibit A), but when you taste this, it makes a splash, but flatters to deceive.

Deep ruby red with complex aromas of black fruit, herbs and vanilla spice. The wine opened with fresh sweet ripe dark fruit, blackberry and black cherry, with oak, leather and cacao. Well balanced, tannins continuing to develop nicely, slightly savory, finishing with sweet oak notes, aged well, still has room to go. Outstanding!

dark purple; blackberry jam, black licorice, lots of new oak; full bodied, very jammy/syrupy, cloyingly sweet fruit; do not think it will benefit from anymore time in the bottle

Black jammy fruit and new oak, med plus tannins, big booze, but missing the acid to balance it out...

5th Coravin pour since 7/25/15, still great, starting to mature. Deep ruby red with compkex aromas of black fruit, herbs and vanilla spice. The wine opened with fresh sweet ripe dark fruit, blackberry and black cherry, with oak, leather and cacao. Well balanced, tannins continuing to develop nicely, slightly savory, finishing with sweet oak notes. My notes from my five pours using Coravin were very consistent, but now noticing the wine maturing. It really
works! Works! Check back in 6months, 1/3 bottle left.
