2001. Putting on weight. This is one of those wines that gonna really start to show at 20+ years of age.

What a young pup, but all the promise is there of a truly fine Barolo.

Took a few minutes to open. Slightly watery at the rim. Touch of brown on the color. Cumin spice and dark berries on the nose. Soft on the palate on Entey it grows fuller in a few seconds. Lingering aftertaste. A good drink. At peak.

Gave this a slow decant and let it open up for 45 minutes. Lots of crushed roses and violets with some light cherry fruit. Some noticeable tar on the backend. Opens up nicely. Just a delicious wine!

Even better than a year ago, among the best Baroli for the $$. More roses and leather on the nose than before, and it's developed cool secondary stuff with a shroomy vibe. Still the tar, balsamic and bridle leather dominate. So good.
