Solid but a bit of a bruiser for Nebbiolo

A tad too evolved for my taste, showcasing abundant aromas is dried cherries and figs. Pan fried herbs too. On the palate, it’s still lively and fruity, with tannins completely resolved. Drink now.

Good, but was also surprised at the single-vineyard Barbaresco

So…confession time. Due to some drama regarding my client, I had my Barolo for Tony day early. A sip and nothing out of the ordinary. And then, a touch of the typical volatile acidity nestled in a cushion of subtle mocha and dirt. Let’s raise a glass for Gigliotti!

Bright color. Tart red fruit. Light bodied. A hint of vanilla.

One of the most delicate and beautiful barolos I’ve ever had at such a young age. Stunning purity. We drank 2017/18 side by side. The 2018 was the clear winner. 5th day open from the fridge.
