Sappy blueberries, black cherries, and limestone, almost effervescent, with plenty of balancing acidity, but also some initial funkiness (light Brett) which dissipates slightly. I can see why Freisa is often a blending grape, but in the hands of a great producer, it’s a solid standalone effort.

In the glass, a touch hazy. On the nose, remarkable bright red fruits and tar. The bouquet is deeply layered but not really easy to pull everything out in the context of the meal. On the palate, crunchy red fruits and a touch frizzante that dissipates. After some air, roses join the massive aromatic theater of this wine. Utterly fresh and with quite substantial structure! A lovely Freisa and likely the best I’ve ever encountered. Bravissimo!

Stewed blue fruits, cherry pie, some frizzante that add to the constantly evolving and alive palate. Strongly recommended.

Having found the Freisa from Bartolo Mascarello in a wine shop has been a bit of a shock, but I recovered quickly as soon as I opened it.
It starts with that little fizz, but once it opens up it gets broad, complex, deep and still nonetheless fresh.
Extremely long and comforting

Pure happiness. Makes me want to pull a truck up to the winery. Which I sort of did.

Probably the only fizzy red wine I like... Mascarello magic!

Had a bottle of this a few weeks ago that was great. This one is ultra spritzy and bretty.

After note, previous wine was out of a Burgundy stem, this was out of a Bordeaux stem. Pour this wine side by side in a Bordeaux and a Burg and the spritz goes away in the burg stem while still present in the Bordeaux stem.
