Calera Wine Company
Central Coast Pinot Noir
Josh Jensen line stone hill and produces true Burgundian style Cali pinots. This is the his entry level and it is very juicy fwd fruit and very much like a village beaune. Excellent wine and great value.

Sep 19th, 2020I don't especially like Cali Pino but, credit where credit's due, this was very good. Very pleased to have found another exception to my aversion in Calera's entry-level cuvee. In fact, I thought it was a Bourgogne in our blind, and perhaps even better than some I've had. Attractive aromas of black cherry, plum, earth, baking spice, and subtle oak influence. The palate's where both deceit and truth comes to play. At 14.1% abv, the wine is surprisingly bright and juicy, with no impression of warmth, or even the dreaded marmalade flavour that I get in many warmer-climate Pino's at all. As with many blinds, the origin only becomes obvious after the wine was revelead, showing distinct compote and cola characters in the back end. This is an excellent value buy!

Jul 13th, 2020A determined and honest Pinot Noir that makes up in purity for what it lacks in complexity. Ripe cranberry, squeezed citrus, freshly cut flowers, and newly tilled earth, with a scattered handful of spices.

Aug 7th, 2017Yes, Calera nails this wine every time but the 2012 delivers some pretty astonishing depth for the money.
