Oak prominent initially on bouquet. Later it shows more on nose than palate. A rich medium to full bodied palate - one of the richest 100% Temperanillos I have had. (Known as Tinto Fino in Ribeira del Duero). Good core of fruit and oak even at 10 years but I would argue the oak masks the characters of the Temperanillo grape to an extent but certainly makes an attractive Red aimed at Western palates. Alion is one of the rising stars of the Ribeira following the success of Vega Sicilia. Fine grained if not firmish tannins but softening at this age. Never seen this in Australia. I bought this in New York in 2013. One of the 1001 Wines.

One of my favorite all-round wines. After good airing, rich and delicate flavor, cherries and walnuts renaming in the palate. A superb wine from@the same region as Vega Sicilia.
