It’s been 2 years since I have tried this wine, still great as ‘05 was a great vintage. In 1874, Bodegas Montecillo was founded by Celestino Navajas. Deep Ruby, Aromas of red fruit, spice and earthy notes. Ripe Berry and Cherry with cacao and pepper spice. Soft tannins, lingering, good balanced, drinking great now. Good value.

Deep Ruby Red. Aromas of red fruit, spice and earthy notes. Ripe Berry and Cherry fruits with pepper spice. Firm tannins that opened quickly. Ending had good length, well balanced, about at its peak.

A youthful 05, very concentrated with fruit, tannin, and sweet oak. Nice graphite note. Pairs well with a 14 month Manchego

I thought the reserva would be better. It is, but still not great.

Cinnamon/ruby color. Succulent dark cherry fruit with a savory finish. Unsmoked tobacco, leather and licorice on the nose. Medium bodied with fine tannins. Pairs well with crusty bread smeared with romesco sauce.

Leather, spice, and earth notes in the aroma. Heavy oak flavor with undercurrents of dried fig and cranberry. Very nice.

The fruit on this wine has faded with time, leaving behind hints of dried black currant. On the palate, decaying wood with the black fruit lurking in the background, and a dusty tannin finish.

A decade old Gran Reserva. Not a fan of the grape but still a fine example of its kind. Black fruits on the palate, notes of strawberry and earl grey on the nose. Short but smooth.
