Reserva Tannat

Deep Ruby with aromas of red fruits, floral and spice. On the palate strawberry and cherry flavors with notes of cacao and tobacco, firm tannins, medium finish ending with fruit and spice.

On the nose, this is frozen raspberry... On the palate, this tastes darker... Blackberry, cranberry... Tree bark, cedar, sawdust... Eucalyptus... Very mushy wood... Pretty big body here though... And the tannins are really contributing to that... Soft, chewy... Medium length with baking spice.

Had with our Uruguayan asado feast. Paired excellently with woodfired meats and vegetables. Wine stands up on its own too if you like jam forward oaky red wines. Aroma is barrel oak, vanilla, spice and dark fruit pie. Taste is a jammy blast of rich dark fruit, assertive tannin, and a lingering balance between the two to finish. Highly recommend this wine and would try more tannat wines!

Dark purple/black color. Aromas of dark black plum, rose petals and bramble berries and a bit of baking spice. Black cherry and plum lead the palate along with a balsamic vinegar/soy sauce component. Bright acidity and rigid tannins. Noticeable/screaming acidity. Building blocks are in place but this wine is just a baby. Needs more bottle age. Dark ruby/purple color. Red and black fruit aromas with hints of violets and cloves. The palate is more black fruit focused with additional hints of black licorice and a bit of pepper spice. Nice touch of vanilla on the long finish. Full bodied but austere. Creamy texture, well balanced and well integrated silky tannins. The best bottle from our Garzon Tannat Reserva five bottle vertical tasting.

Dark ruby color with purple highlights. Dark berry, purple flower and mineral aromas. Red and black fruit flavors along with hints of black tea and baking spices. A bit of a green/sour note on the finish. Tannins have softened and the acidity and alcohol are nicely balanced. Medium-plus body. Part of a five bottle Garzon Tannat Reserva vertical tasting.

Deep ruby in color; milk chocolate, cherries, and cigar box on the nose; high acidity; medium plus tannins; I'm having trouble describing the flavors, but I love this wine. Jason says it ok.

Beautiful funk on the nose. Dark fruits, earth, leather somewhat dry.

Would buy again.

Juicy and fruit forward. Dark plum and berry aromas with a hint of saline. Plum and dark currant flavors with a touch of black tea and fresh herbs (green) on the finish. Lighter bodied and less chewy tannins than in past vintages. Dark ruby color. Fresh and bright. I would like to revisit this one in a few years. I did revisit in June 2024. Above notes still apply. Not much difference than my initial tasting.
