Nicola catena is the Robert Mondavi of Mendoza they advanced in 15 years what it took the rest of the world 200 years to get to this level. They take from the five family vineyards for this wine. The historic rows are now put on the label. This is the best vineyards and they look for the best location in those vineyards Angelica named after his mother and this is the mother clone material. All the wineries built in Spanish or Italian architecture. Dark berry fruit blackberry and blueberry fruit with notes of licorice spice dark tobacco spice. Another vineyard has a dessert effect because of its low altitude this site gives it structure. Adrianna vineyards is one of the highest and this is the most important violet flowers and freshness and acidity

So, I know how not cool I am because, this wine is delicious. It's so amazingly well made, delicious and spot on. Not my favorite style, but super well done.

On the nose; warm, ripe baked, ruby mid red & dark fruits. Dark cassis, blackberries, blueberries, black plum, black plum, dark cherries & creamy raspberries on the edges, dark, rich, moist soils, black licorice, dark chocolate, vanilla and fields of violets.

On the palate; the body is full and gorgeous. The tannins firm, rounded and tarry. The fruits are; blackberries, blueberries, black plum, black plum, dark cherries, cherry, strawberries, raspberries on the edges. Dark, rich, moist soils, black licorice, dark chocolate, vanilla, nice warm spice, suede leather, crushed dry rocks, dry stones, loamy dry top soil, bright red florals and violets. Nice acidity with a nice balanced finish.

Dark blue and black fruits that seem light on its feet due to balanced acids. Easy drinking and quality Malbec for the price. Screams asado!!!!

For Nico's 1st semester completion celebration dinner. Dark magenta in color. Rose petal and hints of marzipan aroma. Medium mouthfeel. Pomegranate and stewed cherry flavors. Lingering lauered finish. This my jam!

Good to see some restraint starting to take hold in the wines from Argentina. Always ate the forefront, I met with the winemaker when I received this and he indeed thinks more Euro than new world in philosophy. A little more oak than I want not but this should mellow with time and perhaps integrate more. Iron, blue and blackberry, sweet, toasty oak with some violet floral nuance. Tannin is ripe and polished. Good length on the finish.
