Verdicchio di Matelica

Not quite as focused as 2022, but still an excellent example from Matelica.

This wine has a beautiful golden yellow color in the glass. Aromas of apple, citrus, and a good bit of salinity are on the nose. The palate shows apple, apricot, lemon peel, and that wonderful saline quality. The acidity is fresh, but not ripping. The finish leaves a savory fruit flavor behind. Pair it with chicken dishes, cacio e pepe, or risotto.

Nice! Better than I remembered.

Crisp, intense, citrus herbs and stone. A nice little bitter note on the finish.

Tart! Full body. Malolactic complexity with lots of white melony fruit. Peaches

honeysuckle, nougat, Granny Smith, peach, apricot preserves, orange blossom ~ creamy up front finishing with crushed minerals almost to the point of pepper

Family party, so truncated notes. A more traditionally styled VdM. Flinty, minerally nose. Broad mouthfeel, full and stony.

Bright and focused with refreshing minerality, bitter lemon pith, lots of zest, white pepper and jasmine. I could have easily called this Gruner.

Orange peel and dried figs. Nice floral notes, herby but not green. More flowery. Fun and different with each sip.
