Bessards-Greffieux. Tastes 3 years old 😂😂 enveloping richness tempered by sturdy tannin and that classic Hermitage granitic bite. Layered, some part coarse and angular marrying with some parts supple and round. All working very well IMO. The Faury finesse and subtlety is there, this is a thinking wine, perfect for not sharing on Father’s day.

This one was unplanned and got slipped into the flight towards the end. I had no previous experience with the wines of Bernard Faurie so there was no real fanfare. This was a stunning showing. Lovely fruit still but it was the added complexity of secondary and tertiary characteristics that really impressed. Everything seemed to be in balance and really showed what properly aged Hermitage can do…and it really is quite special.

Still fresh and a bit green for this 2006 - smoke and meat and olives. Balanced. Epic. A rare treat. White label w Gold Capsule = Bressandes/Meal bottling.

This took awhile to wake up...black and blue fruits, pepper and smoke...lingering acid and tannin...

Hat tip to @Delectable Wine @Josh Raynolds for the vintage guidance.
Everything in its place for this mid week pairing w grilled peppers and Persian inspired lamb burgers.
Plenty of dark fruits on the nose. Not a lot of funk. Hint of CO2 on palate entry that dissipates w time in decanter. Suave, silky texture and with balanced acids that seem fairly mild.

Did not taste like a wine that 18 years old. It was gorgeous and so alive.

Powerful, commanding and no doubt very youthful. Would love to try this in a decade.
