‘Las Alturas' Spanish for 'the heights', a fitting name, this vineyard located on one of the highest grape-growing benches in the Santa Lucia Highlands AVA. Deep Ruby (darkest Pinot almost looks like a Cab with a nose and tastes to match), aromas of ripe berries and spice notes. The palate shows rich blackberry and cherry flavors with cedar and cacao. Rich soft tannins, firm acidity on lingering finish ending with oaky tones. Nice!

Wow! This does not taste like a Pinot Noir. There has to be something added to it. $39 / 91pts SWS206

Pours a dark opaque purple, nearly stains the glass. Briar berries, cherry cola. Not an ordinary Pinot, slightly unbalanced. 14.9% alc

I was able to find this bottle for under $35. I consider it the Cabernet drinker's Pinot noir. Beautiful fruit with smooth, silky tannins. What an enjoyable finish. Definitely worth a glass. Cheers!!
