The other night I opened the 2021 Barboursville Vineyards Virginia Reserve Cabernet Franc. From Barboursville, Virginia a blend of 90% Cabernet Franc and 10% Petit Verdot.

On the nose there is strawberry, raspberry, herbs, green bell pepper, violet, graphite and crushed gravel.

On the palate is strawberry, raspberry, red plum, pepper, herbs, green bell pepper and crushed gravel.

This is a medium bodied wine with a smooth mouthfeel medium to medium + acidity and medium to medium + integrated silky tannins that provides a long red fruit herbaceous finish. We are starting a new weekend and so let us have a wonderful one. Try and have fun relaxing with your loved ones. Stay healthy and safe. Nostrovia! 🍷🍷🍷🍷

This wine is the 2008 Barboursville Virginia Cabernet Franc Reserve. This comes from the Barboursville Vineyards Barboursville, Virginia.

On the nose there is nkack cherry, blackberry, black plum sauce, licorice, leather, cocoa, pencil shavings, dark underbrush and rich earth.

On the palate there is cherry, raspberry, mint, pepper, baking spice, licorice, red currant, cedar, leather, gravel and forest floor.

This is a full bodied wine with a silky smooth mouthfeel medium+ acidity and medium + smooth fine tannins that moves easily into a long red black fruit pencil shavings finish. This weekend looks to be a fine one. Please stay safe and healthy and enjoy the weekend. Nostrovia! 🍷🍷🍷🍷

The 2013 Barboursville β€˜Reserve’ Cabernet Franc is shining brightly at now seven years of age. A blend of 90% Cabernet Franc and 10% Petit Verdot, right away the wine opens with plenty of aromatic appeal with layers of red fruits woven together with shades of wild mushroom, lavender and red bell pepper that all march in place in the glass. The palate shows a silky mouthfeel and soft texture that entices. Suggestions of red licorice and spice cake collide with red cherry candy and loganberry cordial on the palate. Bright, with good acidity and a nice tension that runs through the core of the wine, this is starting to show beautifully now and will cellar well for at least another decade. Drink 2019-2029- 91

Dark garnet in color with a thin browning rim. Nose was a potpourri of dried roses, burnt orange peal and forest floor. Slightly muted black fruits dominated the core. Plum and blackberries with dried mushrooms, dusty earth rounded out with black pepper and chocolate on the finish. Nice wine that matured beautifully.
