Banfi seldom disappoints. The 2012 is refined and savory. Tannins are silky yet grippy and the acidity is stark so with age it will develop. Vanilla and dark chocolate aromas and flavors with a bit of wet soil/dried mushroom. Nicely complex.

Color of clear dark burgundy with orange and yellow tone in the volume and on the rim. Nose of green pepper, grass, dried strawberries, a bit overpowering alcohol, and just a tiny bit of mineral. Taste of subtle acidity, like balsamic vinegar, dried strawberries, spice, like anise, good tannins, green pepper, clean and quite tasty, some more berries, and a bit bittersweet. Aftertaste shows similar lightness and cleanliness, medium short. She is suitable for a hot summer. Price tag does affect my rating.
