The 2018 Barbaresco Ronchi has a bit more textural depth than the straight Barbaresco, as it often does. Here, too, I would prefer to drink this sooner rather than later, as early signs of maturity are starting to come through. Sweet red plum, orange zest, cloves, new leather and anise build nicely over time. There's terrific weight and overall substance here. (Antonio Galloni, Vinous, October 2022)

The 2017 Barbaresco Ronchi is darker, richer and more potent than the straight bottling, but ultimately the two wines aren't as different as they have been or should be. I imagine at least some of that is attributable to the vintage. Black cherry, smoke, tobacco, licorice and leather all meld together nicely. The heat of the vintage is a bit more evident here, but is also nicely balanced. The 2017 finishes with notable substance and power. (Antonio Galloni, Vinous, February 2022)

Pomegranate and fresh cherry. Savory, sappy and juicy. Love this. NBI

Intense... could be confused with a Barolo if not for slightly rounder tannins, less oak influence, and fruit intensity. This is not a feminine Barbaresco.... the’14 needs a lot of time in bottle, or at least a long decant. SommSelect . Update: 2 days later and after a 90-minute decant, this thing is starting to come alive. Much better now with some rich Italian food. Hold until 2022+

Old school. Truffle, black tea, game juices, mushrooms, nutmeg. Massively tannic and structured, but quite exuberant and forward enough to enjoy now (interestingly, the regular cuvée has completely shut down). Suspect this will drink well at every point over the course of a long evolution. Exceptional.

Nice. Needs time. Was much better the 4th day. Still there are good aromatics and structure with a cleansing finish. SS

Another phenomenal ‘14 Barbaresco. So reminiscent of 2008: elegant, fine, detailed. Spice box, cranberry, tar and a touch of camphor. Drinkable now. #ronchi #cruronchi #barbaresco #nebbiolo

Very impressive. Plenty of color, lovely primary fruit and floral character. Already quite elegant with a very harmonious sense of tannin, acid and fruit components for such a young wine. It really does showcase the wonderful 2013 vintage in Piedmont and the balance that was achieved in so many vineyards.

Absolutely lovely. So structured, yet so elegant. And a superb value, as always.

The 2016 Barbaresco Ronchi, the estate’s top selection, marries elegance with power so well. Freshly cut flowers, mint, sweet red berries, anise and blood orange confer freshness that plays off the wine’s dense, expansive fruit. A rush of sweet raspberry, cherry and rose petal punctuates the exuberant finish. The 2016 is a fabulous wine from a property that has been on the ascent in recent years. (Antonio Galloni, Vinous, October 2020)
