No question that when the right wine is aged to the right point, there’s nothing better. What an experience it was to.. first, go to this winery in 2008 and meet the people the run it, and then drink this beauty in 2024 and relive that magic while enjoying the poetry inside the bottle.

Drinking Italian during an English and Spanish final.

Perfectly aged. Great vintage. Great memories from this winery 16 years ago.

Sipping Fine Wine

Deep Ruby color with aromas of red fruits, floral, citrus and smoky oak, 100% Sangiovese. On the palate flavors of ripe blackberry, cherry and plum flavors with floral notes, cacao, tobacco and toasty notes from oak aging. Fine ripe tannins, long finish ending with fruit and an earthy smoky mineral spice character. Nice! Will age! Organic!

Excellent Chianti, smooth as a baby’s butt. Still a tad tannic, lots of cigar and iodine. 2 years (2025) then drink away.

Utterly delicious, the young 2016 Chianti Classico from Fontodi is by far the most memorable wine I’ve had from this region to date.

Sporting a translucent ruby robe, it’s bright, vibrant, with lots of smokey dark cherry, blackberry, and cedar; very pure and with a strong grip of iron.

Very high acidity / tannin. Long, dry, sumptuous finish.

Can’t wait to try this again.

Delicious high-toned dark-cherry Chianti Classico with lower oak influence than most, and fewer rustic notes. This producer is on top of their game. Delicious with food. For those who like Nebbiolo, this a M+ tannin (and darker fruit) version of your favorite Barolo. $30 at Costco, great QPR.

Just an outstanding bottle. Solid core of dried cherry and black plum fruit. Showing great balance and nuance, with a softening texture and secondary flavors coming through. Everything you could want in a Chianti Classico normale and drinking brilliantly now. Bravo!
