Good effort but I’d definitely go with the ‘16 Cogno Cascina Nuova Barolo over this for similar price.

It was Weston’s hosting today for the Wednesday Wine Committee and probably the most informative lunch to date. Though everything was tasted “blind” as usual, we were all given a list of grapes to choose from for the whites and the reds, since they were all meant to be very similar.

I ended up guessing Nebbiolo here based on the tannic grip. It was a tad floral, but I also got some pepper/spice on it. Rather impressive after it opened up a bit. ✔️

Wonderful forest berries, suede like tannins. Dried flowers.

The Piemonte character is cleaned up too much.

Anniversary wine at the Townshend. Lots of finesse, great structure. Fine grain tannins that disappeared with food. This wine would have been spectacular in 10-15 years.

Has great potential with rich fruit flavors, but I drank it too young. 6 years wasn’t enough.

(2014) Dusty and fruity at the same time. Beautiful wine.
