Solid but tannins are a bit scratchy and inelegant.

The 2018 Barbaresco Bordini is a dark, full-bodied wine that expresses the natural intensity of this sector in Neive. Readers will find a bold, structured Barbaresco endowed with serious depth. Black cherry, sage, menthol, licorice, mocha and spice are all kicked up in a Barbaresco that balances energy with size. The 2018 is one of the best versions of this wine I can remember tasting. (Antonio Galloni, Vinous, February 2022)

aromas of raspberry patch & roses overtaken by porcini, tobacco & kretek, licorice and tar ~ add cherry and dried herbs to the palate which texturally rides the line between pixelated and gritty

Deep ruby leaning garnet. Luscious red cherries, cedar, new leather, a hint of wood. Medium plus bodied. Medium plus tannins. Medium plus alcohol. This baby and going for decades. It's absolutely beautiful now. Finish is long and supple.

Ruby with berry fruit aromas, mint and herb cedar scents. On the palate black cherry & raspberry, licorice, citrus rind and herb notes. Full taut tannins bring fruit to long finish ending with herbs and earthy mineral. Nice! Just starting to open up now and will age over next 5-10 years.

Good effort but I’d definitely go with the ‘16 Cogno Cascina Nuova Barolo over this for similar price.

It was Weston’s hosting today for the Wednesday Wine Committee and probably the most informative lunch to date. Though everything was tasted “blind” as usual, we were all given a list of grapes to choose from for the whites and the reds, since they were all meant to be very similar.

I ended up guessing Nebbiolo here based on the tannic grip. It was a tad floral, but I also got some pepper/spice on it. Rather impressive after it opened up a bit. ✔️

Even 2010 was not as good vintage as in Barolo there are still excellent Barbarescos like this one. Nose screams Nebbiolo with ripe red berries, rose, some pine and licorice. On palate the wine does not quite match the nose but has nice sweet fruit that is hold by the midweight body. Tannins are still obvious and bit sandy with acidity that further supports the freshness. Finnish is just a tad short but regardless this is fully satisfying Barbaresco from one of the top producers
