Dense red currant is ‘wrassled’ down by fennel aromas, mint and black cherry with strawberry and blackberry hidden beneath its thick canopy of fern and forrest; including moss and mushroom. Actually amazing! Not going to ever guess that this herbaceous monster with rim to rim colt density is an 11 yr old Calistoga! Meaty notes of grill and marinated fungi. Celeriac root, fennel and licorice notes define this angel with a minty coolness persisting! I have been down on Napa of late, but this is what Napa needs more of. Acidity, balance, freshness and purity. Not surprising this is made by the hand of @Dan Petroski. Add Larkmead to your Napa list if you like Napa Cabernet or have moved on but still have great memories of enjoying Napa Cabernet.
The color is a deep red with lighter ruby red edges. The nose is left bank Bordeaux like with currants, lead pencil, some cherry, and a streak of minerality. The palate is perfectly balanced with precision and a seamless length that expresses the beauty, elegance and depth that Cabernet Sauvignon can achieve in Napa. #larkmead #napa — 8 years ago

This was recommended by a good friend @Ludovic Anacleto he is never wrong. Great wine. Decanted it for 1 hour due to the vintage but an outstanding wine !!! Very fruity and woody. — 8 years ago
