Bright red and black currants swim in a cedary, mint-misted, vanilla and caramel with rum-soaked, golden raisin. Balanced acidity inside a dense framework of licorice, black currant and blackberry (likely due to the additional spritz from cab franc?) with a soft black olive note persisting throughout. Another monster offering from Ferrari-Carano. Thought I should try this after the success of the Back Forty. Really big syrah note after opening, and seemed like a candidate for decanting, but came together quickly, for a very tasty and balanced glass. Ripe and rich, but conversely earthy and complex.
