Château Latour

Le Pauillac de Chateau Latour Red Bordeaux Blend 2016

J. Kim
9.1

The 2016 has rounder fatter fruit and less angular architecture than the 2010, and more intense structure than the 2015. The aroma is a classic old school Pauillac, black fruit, tobacco, cigar box and graphite, on top of leathery barnyard bass notes that one often finds in old Lynch Bages or Pontet Canet. More masculine than feminine with lack of vanilla and minty notes. No overripeness, over-oakiness, over-manipulation this year. Type IV Bordeaux in which the aromatic complexity and the structural intensity is well-matched. Less polish this year but the balance between the presence and the reserve is so well-judged. — 2 years ago

Monprivato di Castiglione Falletto Barolo Nebbiolo 2017

Very old school. Tar, cherries, roses, black tea, rhubarb. A bit closed at this stage but very intriguing and I would love to come back to this bottle in a few years time. — 2 years ago

Some tannins up front on open. Spicy, with earth tones. Almost like mushrooms. After some time open: pepper and cherries. Alcohol Comes through. Fruit really shines through after about 45mins to breath. — 2 years ago

Château de Saint-Cosme

Gigondas Red Rhone Blend 2017

Complex and very well balanced for a roaring 15.5% alc. Notes of pencil shavings, pomegranate, dark cherry, blueberry, baking spices, liquorice and vanilla. Could age much longer for this full bodied beauty. — 2 years ago
