Redolent on the nose, lots of finesse on the palate and especially notable for ripe, silky tannins. Not a powerhouse this is instead the epitome of elegance. Black cherry, sour cherry, clove, leather, violet and celery balsamic notes dominate the nose with the palate filling out with forest floor and a silky texture. Already showing good tertiary notes but clearly there is much more to come. — 2 years ago

We tasted a lot of wine at Merry Edwards. The new winemaker, Heidi von der Mehden, even popped in to say hello during the tasting. I will wait to review the rest of what I ordered as I open them, but this was my wine of the tasting for me. I have enjoyed every vintage of Olivet Lane that I have tried thus far, and this was no exception. This wine was full bodied, ripe fruit, and push mouthfeel. I tend to like Olivet Lane after its had a few years of age — really all of her wines are better with a little age IMO. — 2 years ago

2016 vintage. A blend of 52% Merlot, 38% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Cabernet Franc and 4% Petit Verdot. I wouldn't have guessed such a high Merlot percentage, as it has more of a Pauillac feel to it. Regardless, this is a great effort of Cru Classé quality. Abv. 13% — 2 years ago

This week I had the pleasure of opening the 2016 Snowden The Ranch Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon. St.Helena, California.

On the nose there is black cherry, blackberry, plum, black currant, chocolate, mint, chewing tobacco and graphite.

On the palate there is black cherry, blackberry, plum, black currant, graphite, spice, mint, anise, lavender and dark rich earth.

This wine is full bodied with medium + acidity and medium+ fine mouthcoating tannins which leads to a long pronounced dark fruit graphite finish. I hope everyone's weekend was relaxing and enjoyable. Let's have a great week ahead and please stay safe and healthy. Nostrovia! 🍷🍷🍷🍷 — 2 years ago
