Chanoine Frères

Chanoine Champagne À Reims Cuvée Rosé

A pretty decent Rosé Champagne with dried rose petals, overripe strawberries, biscuits, and a cherry medicinal quality. — 6 years ago

Klopp Ranch Pinot Noir 2013

9.3

Weekly Wine Committee. 1 sparkler, 3-4 whites, 3-4 reds and 1 dessert wine format. Served blind.

I called this Russian River valley Pinot. Extracted, powerful and flavorful. Loads of black cherry, cola, sweet oak, and candied blackberry on the finish. Still young. Underlying notes of cedar and maple.

@Shay A Absolutely love Klopp Pinot 🍷👌

Sanguis

Misfit Syrah Blend 2015

Always a proprietary blend, in 2015 winemaker Mattias Pippig has composed the 'Misfit' using Syrah with Grenache, Cabernet Franc, Petite Syrah and Viognier. Inky and dense in the glass, the wine slowly yields intense aromas of mocha, Asian spice, crème de cassis and damp earth aromatics that all build in the glass. The palate shows sensational weight and texture, while the Viognier adds some floral tones on the mid-palate. Dense dark fruits connect with coffee grounds and creosote flavors as it displays a sensational combination of weight and poise. An absolutely fabulous wine, this should continue to evolve beautifully for over a decade. Drink 2019-2035- 94 — 6 years ago

Bodegas El Nido

El Nido Jumilla Cabernet Sauvignon Monastrell 2015

This is great, wonderful Spanish blend which would be hard to distinguish in a high end Napa Cabernet line up. Not much to say except this is young but really enjoyable, great nose and depth of flavours on the palate. Highly recommended, give this a try. — 6 years ago

R. López de Heredia

Viña Tondonia Rioja Rosé Blend 2008

The mythical unicorn #rosewine from @lopezdeherediaoficial: Vina Tondonia Gran Reserva Rosado 2008.

A friendly wine retailer I am close with sold me a few bottles at regular price thankfully as I gave him the heads up it was coming.  (He also sold his others at regular price!) This wine used to be easily available during its last release, the 2000 vintage back around 2005, not to mention super reasonable in price.  An unfortunate victim of fashion, the secondary market pricing on this starts around $200 and goes up to $300.

Pale copper and deep pink in color, the hue here is as it looks here turning more orange at the rim.  The nose showed as it should for an extended barrel aged wine, showing clear notes the toll oxidation has taken with time in wood.  Though, the wood aromas are well-integrated and intermingle well with dried red fruits, ginger and spice, and a clear sense of minerality which is all laid well into the thick and pungent nose.  The palate shows more precision and tension in the densely textured and flavored med/med+ body of the wine.  Finishes long and fans out wide over the palate.  For sure about as unique a rose as there is out there.

Laurent-Perrier

Grand Siècle Alexandra Brut Rosé Champagne 1985

Beautifully aged Rose Champagne drank in Bordeaux at Leoville Las Cases during dinner. Wish I could have enjoyed more than a couple of sips. Even when not drinking, wines like this should be at least sipped! — 6 years ago

@Jeff Loo Love the older label, what a spectacular older Champagne 🍾

Château d'Issan

Margaux Cabernet Sauvignon - Merlot Blend 2000

This was incredible. Nose gave off this burnt goat hair smell. Like a massive skunk Hibernated in the bottle. American Syrah comes to mind. The body was enveloped-with cherry on fore pallet with a long smooth lingering finish. The tannins were completely muted. I could drink this all day everyday. — 6 years ago

Anything by Foillard is amazing, so HPD squares. Once had a Foillard Beaujolais Noveau- which I never have- almost came to tears, how much joy was in that bottle (& for 15$).
