El Nido Jumilla Cabernet Sauvignon Monastrell

The vineyards are 76.8 acres of very old vaso trained Monatrell vines and 28.8 acres of 30 year old Cab Sauvignon. A blend of 70% Cab Sauvignon & 30% old vine Monastrell aged 2 years. Dark red with big berry flavors & complex spice. On the palate rich ripe cherry & blackberry flavors with sweet vanilla spice, well balanced with acidity. Tannins are approachable but the wine is still very young, lingering finish ending with oak notes, bigger than the ‘14. Still needs time, don’t be tempted but if you have a reason to drink something great, open a bottle, but if you wait this will be great! Tasting Sample.

Surprisingly balanced for a 16% alcohol wine but still riper than I prefer.

Holy moly! This is amazing! Had previous vintages, but the 2015 is an absolute delight right now. Merry Christmas 🎄

This drinks like a big bold Napa cab! After an hour decant, it exhibited beautiful aromas and flavors of dark fruit, leather, bay leaf, eucalyptus and oregano. Some vanilla in the profile too. Nicely balanced even with an ABV of 16%. More put together than Clio. Great vintage🍷🍷…

Now that was larger than life. Huge black cab fruit and tannin structure with more than a little brambly and gamey monastrell. Hard to believe it’s 16% ABV. My only regret is that it is way too young - I’ll wait a few more years before I open another.

This is great, wonderful Spanish blend which would be hard to distinguish in a high end Napa Cabernet line up. Not much to say except this is young but really enjoyable, great nose and depth of flavours on the palate. Highly recommended, give this a try.

Very heavy alcohol 16% ok. But not great.

Silky smooth. Glycerin, black fruit and Beaucoups alcohol (16%). Really different and surprising. Recommended.

Decanted for an hour, needs a few more. Black licorice, tobacco, leather, loads of dark fruit. A fantastic wine that is a newborn.
