12 hours of free-flowing Charles Heidsieck Champagne - heck yes 🙌
Mr Spittoon and I splurged on our recent trip to Thailand. Instead of buying Christmas presents and after saving like crazy we decided to put our money towards business class flights on Singapore Airlines ✈️
The trip from Melbourne to Thailand consists of a 7hour + 2 hour flight, with a stopover in Singapore.
Half of the decision to fly Singapore Air may have been to do with the Charles Heidsieck champagne onboard and boy it didn’t disappoint! It’s also worth noting that unlike the Melbourne and the Bangkok SG lounges that the lounge in Singapore also has help-yourself CH champagne 🍾
So it’s safe to say, I got to know old mate Charles intimately 😜 This is one sophisticated champagne with a wonderful depth of flavour that gives your taste buds plenty of entertainment, even at high altitude. It’s silky in the mouth with aromas and flavours of things like toasted brioche, florals, peaches and caramelised nuts 🤤
At $97 a bottle from Dan Murphy’s, it’s safe to say between Mr Spittoon and myself we definitely got our money’s worth 😉 — 6 years ago
Color of saturated ruby, fading away around the rim. Nose of dark fruits like cherry jam, and crayon. A big dull so I decided to let her breathe for a while. After ~ 10 minutes, nose shows some more strawberries, tobacco leaves, some balsamic vinegar, but still quite reserved. Taste of good quality acidity and tannins, black tea, cherry jam, more tea like flavors, peppery and zesty. Quite classical Chianti Classico Riserva. Aftertaste is an extension of taste, medium long and mellow tannins. Enjoy her now. The nose is a bit dull and that is the only complaint, as the wine is pure and tasty. — 6 years ago
For the money, this is my favourite Barbaresco as it always delivers @ a great price and the latest 2015 doesn’t disappoint either at £30 😉 Drink well young as these do but will get better 👍 A vintage not to miss!

After putting away Christmas decorations & cleaning most of day, it’s good to kick it and enjoy a 375ml of my favorite N/V Rosé Champagne. Always good...never disappoints!
Hope you all have had a great start in 2019!!!

100% Grenache!
Big expressive nose with ripe sweet blackberries, black cherries, herbs de Provence, lavender, spice, garrique, full bodied on the palate, a very rich wine with layered fruit flavors, herbs and spices, silky tannin, fresh acidity, long aftertaste ! already a beauty !!! 97+ DSP — 6 years ago
Very nice young Bordeaux, powerful nose with dark fruit, Wood, metal and almost blue cheese funk. Dark red in colour with a strong palate; a little disjointed to start with but it develops nicely after a couple of hours and has nice fruit with liquorice and oak. Will definitely smooth out and the price point means some low risk experimentation. — 6 years ago

A lovely mid-weight, herbal, meaty and spicy little number. The jovial side of Hermitage if ever there was one - 2014 from magnum. — 6 years ago
