An indigenous grape with a racy reputation. In the 2000s, the Cesanese grape came into the news due to its inclusion in the debut wine of American porn star Savanna Samson which earned favorable ratings among wine critics. Spicy cherry with lovely acidity. Definitely a keeper.

A small wine shop acquisition, purchased on recommendation of a wine steward I trust, Damiano Ciolli's 2009 Silene Olevano Romano Cesanese is crafted from the Cesanese grape. An indigenous variety to the Lazio region of Italy, this lovely example offers up aromas of forest floor, Kukicha twig tea, plums and red cherries. It's medium bodied and not the least bit heavy, the palate is quite similar to the nose, and is abundant with fine tannins and vibrant acidity. A fine food wine that is worth exploring.

A bright, forward, simple and medium body charmer fuels the business chat, like a Sangiovese blend, but southern style.

Reductiveness blew off with a decant. Simple but nice drinking.

A rich dark red that is so easy to drink. Very delicious but not too bold

Velvety blood garnet in colour, very forward notes of cherry, apple, and daisies on the nose. Light to medium body on the tongue, a little bit of oak just to round it off. Easy drinking, fresh fruit jam with a touch of warmth. Great for pork terrine

Dry stone, just rained on with dark grape /blueberry skins with tannins that won't let you forget but not in a bad way. Very interesting a little tar like tires.

Heavy Plum and cherries are tempered by moderate spice. Drinkable, could be decanted to cool off a bit - $47 at A16
