Clos des Chênes Volnay 1er Cru Pinot Noir

Had a softness to it, but with good structure that didn't jump out at you

So good, dark, lifted and rustic

Un nez envoûtant, élégant et assez complexe avec des notes de fruits rouges, écorces orange, beaucoup d’épices, poivre blanc fin, légèrement terreux. La bouche est sur le même registre, c’est frais, fin, aérien, tout en ayant une certaine poigne en finale. 91-92

A very complex, elegant and addictive nose of red fruit, orange peel, lots of spices, white pepper, slightly earthy. The palate follows with the same profile, it’s fresh, elegant, has lots of finesse, a touch of grip on the finish, it could seem light or lacking fruit to some but it is a gorgeous and more intellectual wine.

Red cherries, roses, iron, leather, mushrooms, pottery soil. Snapping acid/rough velvet tannin balance, medium bodied, juicy-satin texture, long earthy-smoky-peppery finish. Delicate aromatics, earthy palate, tannins/acid persist together on finish.

Delicate nose. Rose. Tart red cherry. Moderate secondary development. The acid on the finish is a bit more than I like.

Classic Lafarge. So much beautiful fruit, concentrated and elegant at the same time. Masses of strawberry and raspberry, some savory and mineral notes on the back palate. Supple with a nice weight

cork was funky but wine was not. still, felt a little restrained and short. should have been the wine of the night, but was usurped by the bernaudeau.

A subtle, light nose. Pretty clear red fruit. Simple but delicate. Bright and light- refreshing. A touch of green pepper

J'en ai bu quelques un des Clos des Chenes de monsieur Lafarge et ce soir il est encore différent, vraiment exceptionnel, meilleur que tous les autres que j'ai gouté. Ca devait etre le bon moment de l'ouvrir j'imagine!
