Medium Ruby with red fruit and floral spice aromas. On the palate flavors of red raspberry, cherry, banana and earthy mint. Vivid acidity, fine tannins, medium+ finish, ending with fruit and spice.

Had a bad bottle, wine was flawed

It was fondue night so let’s drink some Beaujolais! This is my second time enjoying the 2021 Lapierre Morgan “S” and the first was enjoyed over the course of several days. With that first experience, there was positive evolution until the last glass. This time, I chose to pour into a decanter several hours prior to dinner. No formal notes but this exhibits a beautiful bouquet of raspberries, strawberries, pink flowers, herbs, stone minerals, and just a touch funky…reminding you of Lapierre’s natural sensibilities. Structure is medium…though acid kinda creeps up into the medium+ category. A wonderful pairing with fondue made with a 50/50 of Gruyère/Raclette and served in the Swiss style. Drink now with an extended decant or enjoy through 2031.

Love all things 2014 Beaujolais. Paired with box mac and cheese

All the sayisfying, licorice-filled, clean, floral brightness I’ve come to expect from this cuvée. Ripe red berry fruit on the palate. Very enjoyable if less concentrated than the past few vintages.

Nearing a decade of bottle age and some great secondary stuff starting to emerge—wet earth, fall leaves, leather, campfire complement the lingering primary black cherry and violet. Beautiful and worth the wait as with other top Cru Beaujolais

Blackberry flintstone vitamin nose. Palate is incredible, textured, concentrated like sweet and tart cherry juice. Concentrated but totally silky, shimmering and transparent. A tiny bit of apple candy. Then this real mineral cut and tension in the mouth, leading to some fine prickly tannic spice, zingy and almost mouth-numbing like prickly ash. Masterful. Reminds me why we drink Beaujolais. The last few vintages I think Lapierre has been knocking it out of the park. This may be the best yet for me. Tremendous, and I think will have 10 years at least, if stored properly.

Drank to a fruit moon. It sang back. Laser sharp bright fruit. Uplifting. I’ll give my next one more time as I’m sure the focus will broaden with short time cellaring.

Classic Lapierre Morton. One of my faves. 2019 needs some more time. Stay tuned in a few months for a more expressive gamay.
