Love it! Decent oak and vanilla with fruity dark berries and leather on the nose. Very drinkable with good mouthfeel and tannins. Medium body

Fruity, juicy, easy drinking. A touch of tobacco, and spices cherry candy. But there's really nothing much going on. At least what's going on is tasty.

I feel that of all the Rioja I've tasted, the Crianza styles always own the best complexities given the minimum age requirements ( by law 6 months in barrel, 18 months in bottle). This bottle is aged for 12 months in both French and American oak, and is 75%temprenillo, 25% Garnacha. The nose is not extremely fragrant, however, it exhibits dry tobacco, candied licorice, and caramel. Entering the pallet comes a rush of racy, dark cherry and cranberry, velvet tannins, medium plus acidity, and a finish of vanilla and wild cherry. This vintage was a shining success for Castillo Clavijo.
