Ironheart McLaren Vale Shiraz 2016

Vineyard sits in high elevation area on sandy ironstone soils, deep Ruby, purple edges, aged for 15 months in 35% new French oak, with aromas of dark fruits and sweet spice. On the palate flavors of blackberry and ripe cherry with espresso, leather and vanilla oak. Tannins are a bit tight and rustic on a long finish, good balance, ending with fruit, spice and mineralogy. Just starting to taste well but a few years in the cellar will benefit. — 5 months ago

Touted as their answer to Châteauneuf-du-Pape, this blend is a rock solid showing from Yangarra. Alive but classic. — a year ago

Ovitelli Mclaren Vale Grenache 2016

Nose of currant, rose petal, pluot. Meaty and savory, notes of white pepper, grippy tannins. Will soften nicely with some age. — 2 years ago

McLaren Vale Old Vine Grenache 2019

In Adelaide tonight and trying the entry level Yangarra Grenache from McLaren Vale made by Grenache master Peter Fraser. No detailed notes - but medium bodied, medium tannins - red and black fruits. Driving 4 1/2 hours to Coonawarra today. See you at Bellwether. — 2 months ago

Whole bunch fermented. This was a big, dark spices dominated wine. Bitter chocolate, lavender, dense palate, long finish — 6 months ago

McLaren Vale Shiraz 2014

Deep red - purple color, medium - heavy body. Nondecriptive nose. Bone dry, red fruit with boysenberry on the fore-palate with an “oh too light” peppery and spicy finish. Tim’s mature and well developed palate observed a hint of vanilla at very end of the finish, however it eluded me. Consistent throughout the bottle. 2014. Single Vineyard Shiraz 2016

Wild red fruit bomb with spicy and leathery notes. Amazing nose for this 2016 “cooler” climate parcel of this Shiraz. Good length and pairs well with lamb. Summer in canada is awesome! — 2 years ago
