A lighter cab but with a great depth of flavor — 2 years ago
2019 vintage from magnum. Excellent example of the type with discreet, but welcome touch of sweetness. Nectarine, green apple, yellow apple, mango skin, rocks, honeysuckle, red pear. Great length, drank even better on the second day. This will definitely go the distance, especially in the large format. Thanksgiving 2021. — 2 years ago
2003, decanted, no sediment at all. Beautiful color. The nose was incredible. So much vanilla, cigar box. Wish it had been a magnum. Shared by my father to welcome my son Asher. — 7 months ago
Les Romains is a vineyard with its feet in flint to the east of the fault line in Sancerre. The 2020 Sancerre Les Romains begins with a fruity and open welcome, blossoming and silken in the mouth before tying the wine up; the flint influence acts like the belt on a pair of trousers tightening up the middle and leaving a sensation of sinew and length with a fine nettley fragrance. Bought at Target. Very drinkable — 3 years ago
Popped and poured from a magnum; no formal notes. This is probably the third or fourth time I’ve had the 2014 Caravina and while it’s still quite primary, this is the best showing yet. Bright red and black fruits with tobacco, a whiff of bell pepper and some baking spices. Firm structure with grippy tannins. The acid is elevated but welcome, particularly since it helped to slice through the fat of the prime rib. Finish is long and satisfying. Drink now and through 2034. — a year ago
2018 vintage. Vacation wine!!!! Very welcome in the face of continued uncertainty after such a whirlwind year and a half. Tart cranberry, crabapple, unripe cherry, lime, autumn leaves, dust, black rocks, rosehips, tea. Great alternative for Burgundy lovers. — 3 years ago
