For years a personal favorite, this wine delivers both deliciousness and uniqueness. Red and blue fruits and a faint hint of baking spice keep inviting you back for another sip. This was the perfect foil for our pre-Christmas turkey dinner. And pinot meunier is one of those grapes not often featured alone as a single-varietal wine, especially unique since this one comes from white-heavy Germany! 100% Pinot Meunier. 12/23/21. — 5 years ago
Such a beautiful expression of Chenin - if a bit atypical (yet regal) featuring prominent tangy citrus on the nose with huge blast of minerality. Sleek on palate w/white stone fruit & darting soft spot here & there - more prominent rounding as it warmed... but fairly sturdy acidic backbone keeps things moving along. Drink this at cellar temp to see what it’s really about. — 5 years ago
Tasty well aged Pfalz Durkheimer Reieslaner Auslese — 7 years ago
Peach notes. Light and not too sweet. Good with fish. — 8 years ago
Late harvest grapes, slate, rancy, acidic, strawberry and raspberries. — 8 years ago
Wow! Darting acidity pierces through the medium body balanced flawlessly with the residual sugar. — 9 years ago
I was surprised at how good this was, and how vegetal for something so full of energy! Smell of crushed stone, fresh cut, tart green fruits and serious vegetal, celery like notes on the nose, with a little sea salt as well. Palate is tart and mouth drying, light-to-medium bodied, with nicely pronounced acidity, with some subtle, jerky like elements underneath, crisp, tart yellow fruits, maybe apple, with a looong finish with that acidic energy darting up and down the middle palate. Really a great wine. — 5 months ago
Melon, honeydew, Meyer lemon. Bright acidity, cheerful demeanor, and so very refreshing. Voluptuous, kind and loving. — 5 years ago

2017 vintage. Surprisingly golden in color, considering its youth. Petrol and white floral notes on the nose, lots of acidity in the palate. Good concentration, with melon, green apple, lime, white nectarine, honeysuckle, little bit of green. Sweetness is very discreet. — 6 years ago
2016 vintage. Very tropical. Brûleed pineapple, baked yellow apple, quince paste, banana, fried plantain, honeysuckle, prendre blossom, white lokum, yellow papaya. Good sweetness-acid balance, though a touch less acid than a lot of Riesling equivalents. — 7 years ago
I always seem to keep coming back to this one. Very fruit-driven, with generous spice notes. A wonderful value! 100% Pinot Meunier. 1/19/25. — a year ago
2023 vintage. Concentrated, light-medium body with fruit darting amongst the layers of acidity. Crisp, slightly mineral and refreshing with a reminder that CA has just a bit more than chard and sauv blanc out there. These “old vines” planted in 1966. 01.08.25. — a year ago
Hit of pear (Asian pear?) on the nose and a little just-mown lawn. Complex, almost busy, palate darting from one thing to the next: sweet, savory, tart and citric. Long sweet-sour finish. Fantastic!

German Pinot. Definitely not a Burg but spicy, clover and cardamom flavors were surprisingly good. Bottle also nicely developed with time — 8 years ago
Samling 88 is the most delicious of guilty pleasures. For me, it needs to be Spatlese to blossom but always a joy to have in the glass. Could drink every day and is a must in warm weather. The most delicious crossing ever — 9 years ago

2023 vintage. Light-medium body with excellent, back-end, enduring concentration without it being contrived or heavy-handed. Darting accents and flourishes throughout. Not the cheapest Merlot and it could still use a year or two but nice effort. Had been told at some point in the last few years that all the Merlot vines had been ripped out. Maybe they have and this is all purchased fruit? Difficulty remembering what lunch constituted tho so…4.1.26. — 3 months ago
