So tasty - such a gem, picked this up in northern Italy years ago, Vino Liquorizo at about 19% it wears it well. Not a hair out of place. Plums & figs, Christmas Fruit Cake, black fruit, chocolate but not decadent, beautiful balance & weight, not as viscous as you might think - lithe, graceful w/really long lingering finish. — 3 years ago
Praleum w SL. Disappointing. Remained closed throughout the night. Left 1/4 of the magnum bottle on the table. Suspect not ready to drink.
The profound 1996 Barolo Capalot Riserva boasts a dense, ruby/purple color, and a pure nose of black cherries, raspberries, and blackberries. Layered and multidimensional, with a sweet mid-palate and a blockbuster finish, this is an immense, full throttle Barolo that should age effortlessly for 15-25 years. Impressive!

A pretty yet understated mix of wet stone, dusty violets, lavender and black currants rises up from the 2018 Rosso di Montepulciano. This is soft-textured and fleshy in feel, yet energized by bright acids and a sour citrus twang that enlivens its tart red berry fruits. It tapers off incredibly fresh and mouthwatering with stoney minerals, roses and vanilla-tinged sweet spice. To be frank, I’ve seen some very poor reviews from this wine in certain social circles, yet from this experience, I can’t validate them. That said, there may be some bottle variation at play.
