Poderi Sanguineto I e II
Rosso di Montepulciano Sangiovese
A pretty yet understated mix of wet stone, dusty violets, lavender and black currants rises up from the 2018 Rosso di Montepulciano. This is soft-textured and fleshy in feel, yet energized by bright acids and a sour citrus twang that enlivens its tart red berry fruits. It tapers off incredibly fresh and mouthwatering with stoney minerals, roses and vanilla-tinged sweet spice. To be frank, I’ve seen some very poor reviews from this wine in certain social circles, yet from this experience, I can’t validate them. That said, there may be some bottle variation at play.
