One of the absolute best Monastrell I’ve had from Spain. I specifically told the wine store guy I didn’t line most of these from Spain because they are too fruit driven & flabby. He said this was old school and very reminiscent of southern France. He was spot on: this had that feral quality, meaty, iron, black olives, smoky, just transported me back to the affordable days of Minervois & Bandol. No puedo evitar regresar a los tintos, no dudo que en verano me gustan mas los vinos rosados que los blancos, pero los tintos son mi perdición, les bajo la temperatura entre 16° y 18°C los disfruto mucho, una noche fresca, un buen trozo jugoso de carne, ensalada de tomate, lechuga, palta, un buen aliño con finas hierbas, ¡listo! Pop and pour. A medium ruby red color. On the nose: floral, forest floor, cherry, herbs, and caramel vanilla. Taste: white pepper, strawberry/raspberry, with a smokey floral medium plus finish framed by medium acidity. Tannins starting to resolve...give this medium body wine a few more years.

This pinot going great with the Imperial Peking Duck tasting menu at this once Michelin starred restaurant (1st Chinese restaurant in north America to earn one).
