Unfiltered, white peach in the glass. Strong petrol and reminds me of being in a port cave, dank, and peaty on the nose. Honey, whiskey, and over ripe stone fruit notes without being sickly sweet. Tart, acidic and smoky notes at the finish uplift and balance this wine. Certainly reminds me of a vin jaune (but much more enjoyable). Exceptional with a bloomy rind cheese. — 5 years ago
Nose of black fruit, smokey sweet spices and vanilla. Full bodied palette, nice pure fruit and integrated oak, soft grained tannins. Nice lengthy aftertaste with acidic uplift. Drinking very well now. Veraton is one of those bottles that consistently perform as a crowd pleaser and this vintage is no exception. — 6 years ago
This has improved considerably since my last tasting. Some barnyard on the nose when I opened the bottle and poured a glass but it dissipated to the background with air, making room for soft red fruits and spices. Gentle and quite silky on the palette, nice cherry fruit and just enough acidity to give it uplift and freshness. Soft tannins. Perhaps I would like a bit more complexity and some more depth in the mid palette and aftertaste but this is very enjoyable and I would buy again without a doubt. — 4 years ago
loved it. Dark stewy fruits on the nose leading to uplift of strawberry and sunlight, with light tobacco chewy late notes. Tastes very much of its place; sunny and easy. Not overly serious, but winks with knowledge of its lineage...the one that escaped the chateau for western vistas and early morning fog pre-surf. — 6 years ago
Tart & savory with dried cherry, rose petals, shrub & dried herbs and the unmistakable volcanic rock. On the palate lean and mineral with dried cherry again, some cooling menthol and an etheric saline uplift towards the finish. Tannins a bit dry though. Nice one from Etna. — 7 years ago

Not every day you get to drink a 22 year old wine. This Rioja had all the aging characteristics. Wide orange ora around the rim, oak, earth and cigar infused with dried fruit (that way, not the other way around). The oak was still so strong, I can only imagine how it would have been upon first release. It had lots of uplift g vibrancy and the layers of complexity made it a real interesting wine. — 6 months ago
