La Rincodana Vineyard Chardonnay 2019

9.4

Briny with oodles of salinity.
Zippy and fresh with sherbet and white stone fruits. Gotta get after more of this…

Sta. Rita Hills Pinot Noir

Bought this twice & excellent both times. Medium body & smooth. Definitely a go to Pinot. — 5 months ago

Zotovich Family Vineyard Chardonnay 2016

I love Tyler Pinots but this is very disappointing…thin, acidic, boring….in a blind I would have thought a mediocre Sancerre — 10 months ago

Sanford & Benedict Vineyard Pinot Noir 2018

Red fruit, crushed rocks, good acidity. I just love this area and this vineyard. Very Burgundian and much better QPR! — 2 years ago

La Rinconada Vineyard Pinot Noir 2017

Upon opening this is very ‘simple’ - fruit & oak forward. Cherries & vanilla. Very much like a chilled Rioja Crianza. With time more depth emerges & more complexity.
Still cherries, but also undergrowth. The oakiness fades. The nose gains freshness.
On the palate this (with time) sheds the fleshy cherry and gains freshness & crispiness. Surprisingly sturdy & dry tannins for a Pinot. And quite fleshy.
Not a Burgundy, def not a Spätburgunder, still (after some breathing time) quite. Interesting. .

That sounds not that great. I have the 2014 i think and based on this review i need to check if it actually deserves cellar space.

@Pinotman /// Andreas it’s not a bad wine, esp. after breathing a bit. But def. not in the E&M or even good Village league.

Okanagan Valley Cabernet Franc 2017

A wine no longer available since Tyler closed his winery to focus on Ones. The nose is stewed prunes and mulling spices lifted by cherry cola notes. The palate is a straight shot of leathery berry with light tobacco and soft vegetal undertones, silky tannins, elegant and understated as it’s aged. Was probably peak a year ago but still outstanding. — 7 months ago
