Had La Macchiona as part of a wine pairing at Septime, so I had to grab a bottle from this producer when I saw it. Not sure what I expected but it was much richer, fuller, and sweeter than I thought. The sweetness slowly wore off giving way to ripe cherries and rhubarb as it opened. Stood up well to the Mediterranean food of all things we had with it and actually quite a nice compliment to it in many ways. Lacked some depth but primary characteristics were strong and carried this wine beyond my expectations. — 8 months ago
Very dark purple color, nearly opaque, intense black fruit and red fruit aromas and flavors, excellent intensity and depth, biodynamic producer, long, lingering finish, my only real nit is it’s 15% ABV, and the alcohol is very evident in the finish, so kinda afraid to age it the 5+ additional years this bottle shows it should logically handle (slight score markdown to reflect this dilemma). — a month ago
2018 vintage. 100% syrah. Willow Creek District. Paderewski Vineyard. Heavy body. Multi-faceted nose. Price has crept up substantially so it is no longer a QPR/bang for the buck darling but is still rocking at full volume. Sometimes, you gotta drop the coin for the concert. 5.29.24. — 8 months ago
Gotta agree with my previous notes. Great wine. Drinking really well right now. — 2 months ago

Deep, Rich, and elegant. The wine actually feels more viscous than normal, and it’s just heavily perfumed and flavored and thick in your mouth. It absolutely feels like chewing on a handful of fresh blue and red fruit mixed together. Perfume of violet and Queen Anne roses, as it faded over time it actually became a much more elegant and approachable wine. Absolutely delicious. — a month ago
