This was one of the first wines early on in my career that taught me the transcendence of wine. Chateau-Grillet, an appellation committed only to the production of Viognier in the most ethereal fashion. We enjoyed this gorgeous 2006 just last night on the island of Saint-Martin. A wine so precisely layered you'll never forget the personality & real depth that Viognier has the ability to display: gorgeous white florals, razor sharp lines of acidity & perfectly ripened guava, honeydew & honeycomb. So happy to have consumed this while in a state of complete relaxation. Experience, after all, reminds us of those moments that brought us to the exact spot that we are today. #grateful — 9 years ago
This + a goat cheese, strawberry and herb salad = transcendence. — 5 years ago
Overall great dark red fruits and black currants. Little less boozy would be just right. — 7 years ago
Concentration on maximum. Sunny and still intensely earthy and lithe. I get a little tired trying to conquer this bottle, and luckily I have friends...more than one around to help with finishing this. Held up for 4 days open, just got softer but never lost its umfffff. — 10 years ago
Very little butter -- delicious and crisp, closer to a Chablis style. — 9 years ago

Transcendence. No one does Cote de Beaune like Brisset. Mid season cherry that is so vivid I feel like I am hallucinating actual cherries. Super stoney and so so complex. Just insane. My god this man doesn’t miss. Palate is an orb of stunning perfection. All silk and sweetness. My god. The fruit clarity is just beyond anything the tannins are so clear, so delicate yet so Pommard. The back end is so clear and a bit truncated now but air will do this justice. The finish lingers. And lingers. And lingers. The fruit is so clear I can’t stop typing it. The finish just is so perfectly crafted. What a wine. Nose now has a hint of reduction that will blow off, some stoniness, some umami and just wow. 9.8 nose. 9.8 palate. This is the true delicate monster if there ever was one. So Pommard and yet so Brisset. The acid is just perfect as is the texture. Needs air. 9.7 for now. Will go up. What a wine now that it’s gotten some air. The nose is just amazing. Some milk chocolate now. Now it’s filling out and the texture is more velvet and the acid is vibrant and piquant. That sweetness is judged so perfectly. We are at 9.8 now. Wow the delineation is nuts here as is the liberality. The tannins are picking up steam but this is so so classy. Insane inner mouth aromas. Not touching for two hours. Now the finesse is in effect after an hour and it’s so juicy. Huge concentration and depth. So Pommard and yet to Brisset. Genius. Oh wow! The nose is a 10.0 today. Indescribable. Unreal depth. Stoney, decaying sweet earth, wild mint. So breathtaking. Palate is just stunning. So deep, so concentrated and just stunning tiny red fruits that caress, mildly explode and linger. This is genius. — 9 days ago
