Classic CDP. Bright fruit, mellow tannins. And that certain chewiness that screams for a steak dinner. Hints of crushed pepper. Very balanced. — a month ago
2013, birth year of my daughter. Couldn't resist buying one of these to try. The cork broke down in 2 while pulling. I managed to extract the rest of it without much damage 😅
Earthy nose with blackberry, cherry, soy sauce, leather and some oaky notes too. The palate is well made with some nice acid drive, some width, little matter and cherry notes and some oaky touches lurking in the rear all along. Tannins are now well integrated and the finish is oaky, earthy and cherry-forward. It's a bit thin, maybe because of the vintage. It's pretty well made but lacks intensity, matter and length to be great. Good tasting experience nevertheless and great pairing to homemade lasagna 👌🏻 — 5 months ago
The 2020 Clos des Lambrays Grand Cru has real intensity on the nose. It's very well-defined with layers of black cherry and blue fruit, mineral-driven with hints of violet emerging with aeration. But this is backward and holding itself back. The palate has exquisite balance. It's a little granular in texture, lightly spiced bordering on peppery, building beautifully in the mouth to exert an insistent grip on the finish. There is a grandeur about this Grand Cru that keeps you entranced, but it will demand time in bottle. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting. (Neal Martin, Vinous, October 2024)

Deep red fruit, cassis, slightly dusty. Explodes at first, then recedes with time. Wow. — 5 months ago
The 2004 Montrose has a slightly rustic bouquet but is quite charming. It offers mainly red fruit, bacon fat, undergrowth and peaty scents, which are very Saint-Estèphe in style. The palate is medium-bodied with melted tannins. It is savory and a little dry, especially towards the finish, though there is good weight, and it is well balanced. Perfect to drink now. 2020 vintage. Tasted over the course of 1.5 hours. Medium body. Darker fruits (similar to Troplong-Mondot but less structure) evident from the get go. Plenty of upfront and mid-palate grip with things softening a bit in the later going. Picked up two bottles from Costco...seem to remember it retailing somewhere between $26-$33 a bottle. Definitely worth that pricing and beyond but this specimen wasn't hitting the high score/notes suggested by the Neal Martin review or Delectable others on this particular vintage. Maybe my palate was blown out by the previous wine...a 2019 Barolo. Perhaps. Will likely roll back and pick up two more bottles just to have laying around since it was drinking nicely anyway for the price. Was unfamiliar with this producer and a bit more "practice" won't hurt. 11.26.24. — 2 days ago
