Domaine des Lambrays
Clos des Lambrays Grand Cru Pinot Noir
The 2020 Clos des Lambrays Grand Cru has real intensity on the nose. It's very well-defined with layers of black cherry and blue fruit, mineral-driven with hints of violet emerging with aeration. But this is backward and holding itself back. The palate has exquisite balance. It's a little granular in texture, lightly spiced bordering on peppery, building beautifully in the mouth to exert an insistent grip on the finish. There is a grandeur about this Grand Cru that keeps you entranced, but it will demand time in bottle. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting. (Neal Martin, Vinous, October 2024)

Notes from La Paulee 2023 in NYC. Smells of whole cluster.... at 80%. Woodsy spices + stemmy herbs + rose petals. Coarsely textured (too young...) Elevated acidity, med+ tannins and med+ finish.

Jun 11th, 2023Perhaps the finest vintage of the new millennium, the 2020 Clos des Lambrays Grand Cru currently shows extremely well. Taking the first nose is almost like walking into a garden of flowers, followed by precise aromas of predominately red fruits, orange rind, sweet spices and wood smoke. This is a full-bodied, hauntingly elegant, majestic Clos des Lambrays with ultra fine-grained tannins and a long, lingering finish. Drink from 2028 until 2050.
