Tom Gore Vineyards

Yabby Lake Vineyard

Single Vineyard Mornington Peninsula Pinot Noir 2015

See previous Delectable notes from 2021 and 2022. Always a class act from Tom Carson and in the top echelon of Pinots from Mornington Peninsula. A beautiful red fruited perfume with stewed fruits. A percentage of whole bunch in the ferment. Richness on the palate with depth. A well made wine from a good vintage. Lucky I have one left. — 3 months ago

Serrat

Shiraz Viognier 2013

Pepper and spice and all things nice as the saying goes as well as a violet note. Very youthful at 10 years of age. The following night a blackcurrant peppery note. Good persistence and length on the medium bodied palate. Tom Carson, the owner and winemaker of Serrat (a Catalonian word meaning close planting - in this case 8800 vines per hectare - one bottle of wine per vine). Tom is also the chief winemaker at Yabby Lake and an in demand Show Judge with a very good palate - Serrat is his private venture with French wife, Nadege. They also import a small excellent range of Burgundy. — a year ago

Vasse Felix

Tom Cullity Margaret River Cabernet Sauvignon Malbec 2017

I had this lovely wine last Sunday night at Sanctuary Cove on the Gold Coast. This is the best Cabernet blend from Vasse Felix and is different from the other premium Cabernet blends in Margaret River because it has 17% old vine Malbec (originally planted by Dr. Tom Cullity himself in 1967 and are the original vines planted in Margaret River). Of course it was infanticide drinking this superb wine at only 7 years of age………but sometimes you have to do these things!! I swear I could detect the presence of the Malbec on the nose as it was so different from the other big name neighbours like Moss Wood, Woodlands and Cullen. A beautiful floral nose of roses and violets. I have been collecting the Tom Cullity since the first vintage in 2013 through to 2019 but for some reason never bought the 2017. This is the first Cullity we’ve had. Just waiting for my cellared examples to get some age. HH gave this wine 98 points and a drinking window of 2021 to 2041. — 4 months ago

California Cabernet Sauvignon 2020

Deep purple in color; baking spices, black cherries, and graphite on the nose; medium plus acidity; high tannins; tastes like black currant (I think), blackberries, blueberry jam, and a hint of vanilla with a long finish. A really good wine. — 9 months ago
