Catsup and barbecue sauce on grilled chicken; heavy on the ginger and bursting with peppermint, allspice and peppercorn. Old one here, with brick red looks. Mint tea, gingerbread, ginseng, bay, violet extract, and ribbons of blood orange and clove, tell-tale tar, gum Arabic, and spiced tea cinnamon, orange, and nutmeg. Tastes like the season for every reason! #marcarini #marcarinichinato #chinato #vinoaromatizzato #piemonte #piedmont #chinchonacalisaya #lamorra #italianwine #seasonal #seasonalwine — 4 months ago
Not as grapey as Port but shares many of its characteristics—rich, perfumed, fruity, nutty, toasty and sweet (but not crossing the line into unctuous, I’m pleased to report). I’ve had this bottle opened for over a year and it’s indestructible. Enjoyed with a cheese plate featuring Stilton, Gruyere, figs, dates and dried cranberries. I feel like I’m in a Dickens tale. “God bless us, every one!” — 4 months ago
Excellent with beef braised with mushrooms and tomatoes. — 5 months ago
Vibrant red color with no tell tale signs of bricking around the edge. Grenadine, red raspberry aromas mixed with a touch of anise and spices. Good balance; soft, silky tannins owing to the high proportion of Grenache. Love this producer. — a month ago
One would think for a small vintage like 2007 this would be open now. Well its not. We decanted two hours before, which helped. Its a very classical VCC with all the tell tale Pomerol stuff in spades. Would wait another 3 to 5 years. Great stuff. — 2 months ago
This was part of a series that Greg Brewer bottled at Melville back in the early 2000s. At that time Melville had 14 different clones under vine, I believe. The Estate was a variable blend of some fraction of these, but being a student of pinot Greg thought it would be cool to bottle a bunch of the clones as single-clone offering to people who might geek out about trying to identify different clonal components in the various main offerings, trying some blending at home, etc. (basically, me as the target audience). I was stunned at how well this wine is still drinking after 14+ years. Beautiful, deep ruby-red color, the wine still had an impressive amount of fruit, great balance, and that tell-tale spiciness that is characteristic of wines from their Santa Rita Hills vineyards. Really terrific! — 2 months ago
Acidic on the nose but well balanced on the palate. A much lighter bodied red that tiptoes on the tongue. Great for sipping and lighter meats, milk or white chocolate. Hints of cherry and cranberry. — 4 months ago
Pretty good. Not as good as the cab from threaded tale. Does not go well with charcuterie board, needs to go with cooked, smoky, spicy, umami flavors. Notes of plum, chocolate, oak. — 5 months ago

I don’t know what it is but all #chile #syrah and (pardon the generalizations) all Chilean wine have this tell-tale aroma that is somewhat eucalyptus and somewhat smoked meat in all the wines. #movi 2015 still youthful. Has 5-7 more years to it. — 20 days ago
