Big, chewy, mouth coating Syrah, absolutely gigantic actually. Leathery, peppery, tannic and silty/coco powder notes dominate throughout, but a nice, ripe red raspberry note slips right through the middle and finishes so sweetly. Yum!!! — 9 years ago

Still doing great after 11 years. This could easily go another 2-3 years I think. Dark purple with faint hints of oxidation starting to show up. Plum, cherry, cola, tobacco, notes of coco, cassis, and blackberry on the palate. A hint of vegetal greenness on the nose, but otherwise plum and floral notes on the nose followed by tobacco and pepper. — 6 years ago

Black cherry, coco, and coffee notes on the nose are seductive and indicative of the relative youth of this vintage. On the sip, all those flavors come through, especially the black cherry. In addition some black plum, tobacco and vanilla come through. Yum! — 6 years ago

A beautiful wine from an unremarkable vintage for Bordeaux. Barnyard, wet leaves old rose petals on the nose and dark ripe fruits, black cherry, pencil shavings, light hints of coco and leather on the palate. I love this wine and the 2001 will be even better in a decade (2028). — 8 years ago
