Saint Joseph, the other Northern Rhône. The 2013 Domaine Monier Terre Blanche gives floral notes, herbs, smoked meats, pepper and a bit of dark fruit. The Monier grapes come from the granite slopes above the town of St.-Désirat, a little north of the original St.-Joseph zone. This wine gives enough to make it both interesting and enjoyable.
Friday is finally here so I fired up the grill and roasted a delicious chicken. Grilled chicken and Syrah was a pretty perfect match. Happy weekend. — 24 days ago
Made from 50 to 100 year old vines and matured for 18 months in small and large oak vessels, of which 20% are new. Medium-ruby, the 2020 Terre Nerre Calderara Sottana is introduced by a hauntingly fragrant scent of red and black cherries, wild blackberries, Mediterranean herbs and crushed granite rock. The medium to full-bodied palate is marked by a firm tannic structure, nervy tension and wonderful fruit complexity, closing with an elegant, persistent finish. Drink now until 2040. — 7 days ago

Made from one of my favorite Sicilian wineries, the 2020 Terre Nere Etna Rosso is a splendid reference for the Nerello Mascalese variety. Medium-ruby colored, the nose displays fragrant aromas of wild strawberry, crushed violets, freshly cut herbs and a dash of rose pedals. The medium-bodied palate delivers concentrated, ripe red fruit, polished tannins and lively acidity, all perfectly balanced. Drink now until 2030. — 7 days ago

A little nervous about this one, but no need. After more than 2 decades, it was perfect for our homemade Bolognese. — 8 days ago

Very divisive at the table. I heard everything from a bouquet of white flowers to hot dog water on the nose. Personally a highlight of the night. Bright but round. Mineral as one would expect from cornelissen. Intellectual. — 11 days ago
