Felton Road

Bannockburn Riesling 2015

The aroma gives away the wine's origin, at least for me, with petrol and rubbery hints tickling the nasal passages. Lemon, lime, pineapple, honey, crushed stone, and rose petals ensue. The taste is like a sweeter-styled Spatlese. It leads with notes of honeyed citrus and cream, finishing with bruised apples, burnt sugar, and nuanced minerality. The flavours linger for a while, but is ultimately dominated by cloying sweetness. That is not to say that acidity was lacking, because the finish definitely sparkled with the cut of steely acidity on the tongue, but the sugar still persisted over this. The 15' Felton Road Bannockburn Riesling certainly looks well-made, but leaves me looking for some relief after a few glasses. Food wine for me. — 8 days ago

Fanucchi Wood Road Vineyard Zinfandel 2016

Wow. Sweet nose of fruit and dark chocolate. Front tastes of Berry jam followed by some tobacco bites and the spicy black pepper. Delicious. — 15 days ago

Correcaminos (Road Runner) White Blend 2018

Middle school between 1995 and 2010? Then you know. This is Cool Ranch Doritos. So bizarre but so true and not at all derogatory. Sour cream, ranch, dill, white cheddar, and fermented pineapple. So much salt and though it can wear thin, this is too much fun. — 23 days ago

Bannockburn Pinot Noir 2010

Focused, personality, fun, great balance
I find it a little light when we think that we are drinking Central Otago, but Felton Rd is so unique. Never overpowering.
I just wonder if I identify their wines more with the region or with their winemaking🧐
Ps this might tell you how wine is a cerebral enjoyment rather than just material 🤔

The Road Less Traveled Tempranillo 2017

Very dark. Holy high alcohol Jim! 14.9%. Smells a bit like port, grandma’s fruit cake, & blackberry/black cherry jam. Also like Christmas. I heard that from somebody. This wine is all Christmas. Flavor is similar to nose. Toasty, toffee, smokey, slightly raisiny. It has a nice dry, earthy finish though. The ink and graphite hint late. It’s a unique, big Tempranillo, but it’s tasty and delicious. Best on a cold night as the last one... — a day ago

I really like that wine, especially with a bit of age, which allows the tannins to integrate.

I had a hard time to pin down the major flavor on this one. Did not have enough time though.
