Deep purple in color with a wide purplish rim.

Strong nose of red and purple fruits with light wood, spices, chocolates, herbs, black pepper and light earth.

Dry on the palate with sweet cherries, blueberries, black currants, light oak, chocolates, earth, spices, black pepper, tobacco leaf and dark coffee.

Long finish with fine grained tannins and tangy cherries.

This is a delicious Single Vineyard Zinfandel from Alexander Valley in California. Fruit forward and elegant. Rich and nicely balanced, complex and entertaining. Alcohol is nicely integrated by now.

Easy drinking and good by itself or with food.

A blend of 88% Zinfandel and 12% Petite Sirah, from old vines. Aged in (10% new) French Oak barrels for 15 months.

15.5% alcohol by volume.

Dark ruby color. Aromas of dark berry fruit, leather, sweet spices and roasted nuts. Cooked Black berry/raspberry/cherry fruit on the palate with notes of dark chocolate, plums and sweet and savory spices. Hint of vanilla on the long and silky finish. Home Hill has become a rising star on the Australian Wine Show scene for the quality of their cool climate Pinot Noir. This wine had aromas of cherry and a little stemmy character. The palate was sweet with plums and black cherry. Very fluid and supple tannins - seamless. Medium weight palate and drinking well now. HH has a drinking window of 2017 to 2029. Cannot see it myself. My remaining 2 bottles will be gone in the next few years - just too delicious. Winner of the 2015 Jimmy Watson Trophy for the Best One Year old Dry Red at the Royal Melbourne Wine Show. Mid crimson in colour - almost transparent. Red fruited with typical Huon Valley perfume - earthy, Sous Bois, mushroom - sweet and savoury characters on the palate. Finely textured (Chairman’s Trophy - 2020 Tasmanian Wine Show). There is a Reserve Cuvée which is richer still. Had another bottle 63 weeks later on 1st August 2024 with similar notes. Always rich and delicious. I can see why it won the Chairmans Trophy in Tasmania. Had another bottle on 21st June 2025 with similar notes. Luscious, mouth filling and delicious. — 3 years ago

2016. Smokey Hollow. Old Mission Peninsula. What a very pleasant and enjoyable surprise. This was a light tart and refreshing wine. Light golden color and light citrus aroma. A little sweetness and apple flavor that went very well with an eclectic dinner including ribs with Carolina sauce and red pepper, Pa Dutch sweet & sour Mac salad m, bok choi and kimchee.
